Verkhny Bystryi is a small village, which is located in Ukraine, in the Carpathians, in the Mezhyhirsk district.
How to get to Verkhnyaya Bystryi
It is best to go of course by car. Actually, we got there by car from Kiev. But if there is no car – then the best way is to get to Volovets (there is a train), and from there by minibus to the village.

And there is almost nothing interesting here :-(. The only thing is near the mountains, where you can just go for a walk and thermal springs. But in winter, they are of little use.
Where to live in Upper Bystroe. Rental housing
As elsewhere, in the Carpathians, it is not a problem to rent housing, in every village there are hotels and huts that are rented by locals. Prices are different and start from 100 UAH per night per person in season. On this trip, we lived with a friend, so we paid 40 UAH per person for a rural hut with a toilet and a shower (there was a boiler and hot water). The hut was heated rough with firewood. Therefore, it was necessary to heat it 2 times a day so that the rooms would be warm. In general, for such money, the conditions are normal.
Review of the rest in The Upper Fast
By car, we arrived there in the evening. In fact, the village itself goes along the road and it is oblong. Immediately after the Upper Rapid there is another village. The village is small, there is nowhere to go. All our entertainment was reduced to a trip to the sauna and a trip to the mountains. We also went skiing to the village of Pylypets, which is located 25 km from the Upper Fast. But first things first. Sauna in the hotel Chervona Kalina Immediately I will say that the sauna is very bad. It doesn't heat up! In fact, this is the only sauna-bath in the village. There are no alternatives! It is located in the hotel complex "Chervona Kalina". The price of the sauna was 100 UAH per hour. We wanted to take it for 3 hours, but we ended up taking it for 2 hours because the sauna is just terrible. It will not be possible to steam there well, the temperature is very low as for a sauna-bath and we could not heat it in any way, although we poured water and waved. In short, you shouldn't go there! Hike to the mountains and to the springs The next day, we decided to get out into the mountains, which are located between the village of Verkhniye Bystryi. You have to go just past the source. The ground near the source is brown, this can be seen in the photo. What is the usefulness of the source, we have not figured out. So we just photographed the booth and the cinnamon mud flows. Further along the serpentine, we climbed higher and had a wonderful day. The view is beautiful. Spruce and forest in the snow. You need to dress warmly so as not to freeze. By the way, the forest is cut down, so there are paths along which you can climb. Without paths, climbing the mountain will be very difficult. In fact, all the pictures are a view from the mountain. Trip to Pylypets and skiing. To Pylypets, go 25 km, and when there is snow, there are a lot of people in Pylypets. By the way, Pylypets, this is exactly the village that is located near the Shipot waterfall, where I went in the summer and lived in a tent. There are also lifts and ski rental. Only lifts only work when there is snow. There are no cannons that make snow there, this is not Bukovel. Therefore, going skiing in Pylypets makes sense only when you are sure that there is snow there! And it is better to go there earlier, because at 12 days, you are unlikely to rent a snowboard, and there will already be a lot of people. By the way, the price for rental starts from 50 UAH per day. A lift costs 30 UAH per lift. You can buy a daily unlimited for 150 UAH. Roller coasters are not bad! There seem to be 3 of them, although I could be wrong. One is very long! In short, you can ride there well, if only there was snow. Also in Pylypets, you can go to see the Waterfall Shipot in winter. After skiing, 2 days later we drove back to Kiev. Here I want to describe only one moment that I remember, this is the Vyshkovsky Pass. It is very beautiful, along the road grow beautiful large spruce and pine trees. They were all in the snow – very beautiful. But as soon as we passed the Vyshkovsky Pass, the snow immediately disappeared and everything became as usual – without snow. The contrast of Mezhyhirya is very well felt.
Conclusions from the trip
– In general, it makes sense to go to Verkhniy Fast only when there is snow in the Carpathians! – You should only go here by car. – From here it is not far to get to Pylypets, which would be to ski. – There is no normal bath in Upper Bystroe. – There's not much to do here. Well, here are some photos from the trip:
